Charlotte Temple, our Design Director, delves into the inspiration behind our exclusive Woven Luxury Collection.
We are so excited to introduce this new capsule collection – seven pieces based around luxury natural fabrics – a wool & alpaca blend, merino and cotton.
When I sit back and start thinking about each collection, I want to create pieces that do just this – look as good in 60 years’ time as they do now. I do not expect every piece to do this, but some will. I feel this will be a huge achievement, something we can pass down a generation or two!
Susie our Head designer in the Weaving created a baby alpaca and lambswool fabric a season or two ago, which is beautifully soft and luxurious.
The fabric & garment styles in this collection are simple. The Klara - A black & white houndstooth wrap jacket. I wanted to create a ‘cardigan’ in our fabric, and this does just that - it is oversized, deconstructed and really comfortable. (It’s a hard choice, but I think my favourite piece in the collection)
The Mourne – our boyfriend blazer featuring a black & white herringbone with a subtle berry red fleck throughout. The herringbone is a traditional Donegal tweed design and one that simply doesn’t date.
New for this season – the Penny double-breasted coat, inspired by our mens peacoat this is a winter wardrobe staple, the fabric is a plain black crossed with an oversized double white check.
We have styled the three core elements with Made with Liberty prints – the Strawberry Thief (a Liberty classic) in the Rebecca dress and the Adelajda print – a kaleidoscope of stars, in the new Tara top. Black merino knitwear and flannel trousers complete the collection.
We decided to shoot each look in black & white in an old fisherman’s cottage overlooking the sea. A hint of the grey and white stone, weather beaten grass and a blue-green sea captures our Donegal heritage.
We hope you love this collection as much as we do, now and in years to come!
