THE TRELLIS

The Inspiration: A traditional design the Trellis is said to take inspiration from the patterns of small fields on the islands off the west coast of Ireland. Woven with 100% wool, this throw incorporates an intricate diamond structure in response to the traditional Aran pattern.

Designer’s Notes: “Look out for unexpected nepps, the name given to flecks of colour which is a characteristic of tweed woven in Donegal.”

Natural Yarns Used: 100% Wool.

THE FERN

The Inspiration:The fern design is a zig-zag style motif which takes inspiration from the delicate leaves of flora and fauna found growing in abundance in Donegal.

Designer’s Notes: “The fern throw comes in a variety of different colourways, the oat and cream offers a subtle textured look while the green and blue offer a more dramatic and graphic design.”

THE PAINTERLY HERRINGBONE

The Inspiration: One of the two true Donegal tweed patterns, herringbone is said to have been inspired by the fish caught in the Atlantic by weavers who were also part-time fishermen.

Designer’s Notes: “We have named this throw painterly because of the melange yarns used which offer a canvas for a rich depth of colour.”

Natural Yarns Used: 100% Wool.

THE ST BRIGID’S CROSS

The Inspiration: The Irish tradition of weaving crosses from reeds for St Brigid’s day inspired our team to develop this criss-cross design into a versatile pattern.

Designer’s Notes: “This throw works earthy tones of forest green, moss and grey, we were excited to work this in a combination of textures and weights offering a luxurious and intricate pattern inspired by the beauty of the Donegal landscape.”

THE DIAMOND WEAVE

The Inspiration: The diamond weave is an intricate pattern with a vibrant overcheck of colours working lighter hues to catch the light.

Designer’s Notes: “We love the silver thread running throughout this throw which we like to think is inspired by the light hitting the sea – something that has an extra beauty in the windswept location of Donegal.”

Natural Yarns Used: 95% Wool.
