We draw inspiration from our wonderful surroundings in Donegal, with its colourful land and seascapes to its captivating mountains and cliffs. Our collections are based around core, natural yarns - lambswool, linen, silk, cotton and cashmere.
From cloth to finished piece, our design team focus on seasonal themes which also resonate with our Magee 1866 ethos. Donegal in itself is so inspiring but we also look further afield to other parts of Ireland both rural and urban when working through the design process. We want our products to capture a lifestyle which is sustainable and timeless. Each piece is designed and made with longevity in mind.
Our weaving mill in Donegal is located on the River Eske, is still the beating heart of everything we do at Magee 1866. We are proud to support a tradition of weaving and manufacturing textiles in the northwest of Ireland, bringing a contemporary edge to an age-old craft. 5 Generations and over 150 years of passionately designing and weaving Donegal tweed.
Featured Irish made products include beautifully hand crafted Donegal tweed covered notebooks. These unique notebooks have been carefully hand made by Duffy bookbinders – another family business with over 100 years of experience. Other items include natural wax candles handmade in Wicklow in a collaboration with Brooks & Shoals, tweed throws designed and made in Donegal by us, handknits, capes, scarves and pashminas.
We design and weave our own pure linen and linen blends – brought to life in our tailored pieces for men and women. Our collection also uses Irish Linen shirting from Baird McNutt, another Irish mill. A selection of our linen shirts are designed, woven and made in Ireland. Until they go home with you, they never leave the island.
Our Made in Ireland collection is something that we are striving to build on in the coming months. We have been designing & weaving for over 150 years and looking further to curate beautiful finished pieces that capture the core of our Magee 1866 brand - heritage, family, sustainability, design, weaving & Ireland.
